Description

Hematite owes its name to the Greek “Hematos” which means “blood”. In the middle ages it was known as “blood stone” because it turns water red when cut or polished. Throughout history it has been given to warriors in powder form to apply to wounds to stop bleeding and that is why it symbolizes courage. Hematite is a very dense stone which makes it pleasantly weighty and cool to the touch.
